Résumé

Généralités. La Polynésie française est présentée sur le plan géographique : description des archipels, du climat et de la population. Quelques aspects de l’économie. Les principales activités économiques sont abordées pour situer les productions fruitières dans leur contexte. État des lieux des productions fruitières. La production fruitière est présentée selon la nature et les quantités ; la typologie des exploitations et les spécificités de la production des différents archipels sont décrites. Facteurs conditionnant le développement des productions. Le développement des cultures fruitières dépend de nombreux facteurs qui doivent être analysés : contexte phytosanitaire, production de matériel végétal, problèmes fonciers, organisation de la profession, technicité des agriculteurs, aides publiques et possibilités de transformation sont déterminants. Conclusion. Les actions récentes qui ont été mises en place permettent une évolution favorable de la filière.

Abstract

General information. French Polynesia is presented from the geographical point of view: description of the archipelagos, climate and population. Aspects of the economy. The principal economic activities are approached to locate the fruit crops in their context. Inventory of fruit productions. The fruit-bearing production according to nature and quantities is related, and the typology of the exploitations and specificities of the various locations of production are described. Factors determining the development of the production. The development of the fruit industry depends on many factors which must be analysed: the plant health context, the production of nurseries, the land problems, the professional organisation, the farmers’ technical level, the government aid and the processing possibilities are analysed. Conclusion. The recent actions which have been initiated allow a better evolution of the fruit industry.
